The extensive linenfold carving on this set of doors complements the stature of this manor house
These huge arched doors, with full scrolling linenfold carvings to the front face, also needed to fold back on themselves in a bi-fold arrangement so they could be tucked away within the portico during the summer. Consequently, we needed to incorporate an additional touch on the reverse so that when folded, that mark of craftsmanship was still on display.
The smaller inner door, whilst hidden away behind the bigger outer doors much of the time, still had to be strong enough in its design to stand out in it’s own right when the outer doors were folded back.

The technical challenges of oak bi-folding doors on this scale drew on all of our joinery experience and the artistic licence in the carving brought out the best in our creative talents
The hand carving on these doors set it apart from the ordinary. The hundreds of hours spent by our carvers creating the three styles of linenfold on this set of doors has transformed them into the standout doors the client was hoping for. The inner door’s more delicate ‘parchemin’ style complements the outer door's more intricate scrolling linenfold, and the incised carving on the rear is beautiful in its own right and rarely seen on the back of a door.
In turn, these doors now complement and complete this beautiful Georgian manor house.
